OPUS is gaining traction quickly. Unless I'm mistaken, blox is using opensips which does support OPUS. Any chance this can be added in the near future?

transcoding. Though OPUS is gaining traction quickly, there are many millions of phones ( I have a few hundred ) that will never support it because their hardware can't. Having an SBC transcode OPUS <> G722 so you can get the benefits of OPUS on the connection but utilize older hardware would be very desirable.

Blox support Hardware based transcoding using Allo Transcoding card https://www.allo.com/transcoding-card.html
with this Hardware OPUS codec and G722 is possible

How about in software? I have a number of smaller sites that only peek at a few calls.
also, I sent allo an inquiry on that card and they said it doesn't support opus.

No software based transcoding support in Blox
Sorry, you are correct, transcoding card doesn't support OPUS codec, it supports G722
|

Thanks for your feedback.
Blox we concentrate on adding features mainly based on security. New Blox system will also be concentrating on software security features TLS, media encryption, IDS/IPS, Topology hiding, SIP protocol compatibility with legacy systems & webrtc, Call routing, load balancing, SIP Header manipulation etc
We consider adding software based transcoding but not near future, since there are PBX/SIP Phone can take care of media transcoding.
